"Because Jesus is present among us in the gifts of Word and Sacrament, then heaven itself is present among us. It is the world of “angels, archangels, and all the company of heaven.” |
Entering St. John’s Lutheran Church is entering a new world—a world defined by God’s story of salvation from creation to new creation, a world shaped by the cross of Jesus Christ.
At St. John’s you will encounter heaven itself as our Lord Jesus Christ comes among us with gifts of Word and Sacrament. By His Word, He pledges Himself to us and promises reconciliation. By His Sacraments, we meet the risen Christ in a bodily, tangible encounter. Jesus said, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). As the cross pressures of today’s world weigh heavy on us, St. John’s offers a time for rest and a place for refreshment. Here, the troubles of life evaporate into the wounds of Jesus. If you are a first-time visitor, our ushers will greet you and provide you with information for the day’s worship service. They will also be able to direct you to our pastor. Guests of sister congregations of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, who desire to commune with us, are asked to please speak with our pastor before the service to introduce yourself and to receive a blessing. |
